The Anambra State Government has donated 30 Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State, reinforcing ongoing efforts to enhance security operations and public safety in southeastern Nigeria.

The handover took place at the Old Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia and was led by the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, according to a statement issued by the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga.

Governor Soludo said the donation underscores my administration’s continued commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order across the state.” He emphasised that effective security remains central to social stability and economic development in Anambra.

During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, formally presented 28 newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police, indigenes of Anambra State, to the governor.

The officers recently completed their training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, and were commissioned into the officers’ cadre of the Nigeria Police Force by the President of Nigeria. They have now been posted to serve in their home state.

CP Orutugu noted that the addition of the new patrol vehicles, alongside the deployment of the newly trained officers, “would significantly improve police visibility, response time, and operational efficiency across Anambra State.”

Addressing the officers, Governor Soludo urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

He encouraged them to embody Anambra State’s ethos of being “a Light to the Nation” through exemplary conduct and dedicated service to the public.

The event was attended by senior state officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, senior police officers, and other key stakeholders.

The initiative forms part of broader measures by the Anambra State Government to strengthen security infrastructure and support law enforcement agencies amid ongoing national security challenges.
