Anambra Government Supports Foundation On Clean Environment Initiative

The Commissioner for Environment, Anambra State Dr. Felix Odimegwu, and the Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), Mr. Mike Ozoemena on a bid to maintain environmental sustainability in the state, ishave flagged off the “Keep Okija Clean” initiative by Sir Ernest Obiejesi ( Grand patron Obijackson foundation and GMD Nestoil LTD) at St. Mary’s Field, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area.
This initiative, spearheaded/funded by Dr. Ernest Obiejesi and facilitated by ‘Okija bu Enyi‘ Brethren, aims to promote environmental cleanliness and community development in Okija.
The event witnessed the deployment of essential equipment, including two compactors trucks, one bus, one pickup and other equipments, to facilitate good and timely Environmental practice and cleanliness.
In addition to providing equipment, the enterprise has employed approximately 100 individuals to assist in cleaning the town.
Also promised to continue supporting the initiative.
This move not only contributes to the environmental sustainability of Okija but also provides employment opportunities for the local community.
Speaking at the event, Dr Odimegwu stated that this is the private-public community partnership (PPCP) the Soludo-led government preaches about as this will not only maintain Environmental Sustainability but will also complement the transformative infrastructural development going across the state.
Furthermore, Dr Odimegwu expressed that The “Keep Okija Clean” initiative aligns with Anambra State Ministry of Environment mission to promote a cleaner and healthier environment in the State.
He added that by collaborating with stakeholders and engaging the local community, waste will be managed effectively.
Dr. Obiejesi took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Governor of Anambra State Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts towards ensuring the sustainability of the state and its people.
He also appreciated the Commissioner for Environment and the MD of ASWAMA for their presence at the event, acknowledging their support and commitment to the initiative.
