Anambra Government Trains Medical Workers on Health Management

The government of Anambra state through the state ministry of health, has organized a five day residential training for Tuberculosis, Bruli Ulcer and Leprosy health supervisors in the state. Addressing the participants, the Head of Medical Services in the ministry of health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu said that the training is very important to the state and those managing the three diseases to gather sufficient knowledge that would help them to efficiently execute their Jobs.

Dr. Chukwulobelu revealed that the training before now is being done in Zaria but because of insecurity in the country, Governor Chukwuma Soludo approved for the exercise to hold in Awka.

He also pointed out that they have recorded over two thousand, seven hundred cases of tuberculosis this year and appealed to people to avoid clustering in a crowded place if they have no business being there, as the state government is doing everything possible to eradicate the spread of the killer diseases in the state.

 

The Anambra state Acting Director of Public Health, Dr. Afam Aneme said that tuberculosis anywhere is tuberculosis everywhere and he described the training as critical in winning the war against tuberculosis, bruli ulcer and leprosy.

Dr. Aneme further explained that tuberculosis which is a droplet disease can travel to someone’s brain, spinal cord or intestine which makes it easy for the disease to kill its carrier with easy and called for all hands to be on deck in the fight against the killer disease.

A facilitator, Dr. Chijioke Oke lectured the participants about the three diseases, how to efficiently manage them as well as how to relate with patients for enhanced service delivery.

The training which was held in Awka, the state capital, attracted supervisors who are working in the various local governments as well as those working at the state level.
