The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated a new state security supervisory committee in a bold initiative to address the growing concerns of insecurity in the state.

Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the governor, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, disclosed this in a press statement in Awka, the state capital. Opara described the move as a testament to Governor Soludo’s commitment to addressing the issue of insecurity in Anambra.

The committee, which consists of representatives from various government agencies, traditional rulers, and local government leaders, has been tasked with the responsibility of registering and monitoring the activities of the units of “Agunechemba,” among other duties.

“This collective approach to addressing insecurity is a welcome development, as it recognizes that crime and social unrest require a multifaceted solution. Governor Soludo’s emphasis on innovative solutions to security challenges is well-received by Anambra residents, who have expressed relief at these efforts,” Opara said.

He emphasised the crucial role of the committee in facilitating collaboration between government agencies and the community to create a safer environment for all citizens.

Opara highlighted Governor Soludo’s recent unveiling of the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 and the launch of ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ a special security operation aimed at strengthening the state’s security framework.

“These initiatives showcase the governor’s determination to confront insecurity head-on and restore peace to the state. Since the launch of ‘Udo Ga-Achi’ a few months ago, the efforts of the new security forces are showing promising results. It is evident that Governor Soludo is implementing effective measures to address the security concerns of Anambra residents.

“As Anambra embarks on this new journey, there is a sense of optimism that the state will soon be recognised as the safest in Nigeria, free from the threat of insecurity,” he concluded.
