Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering innovation and digital excellence.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Anambra Innovation Week held at the International Convention Centre in Awka on Monday, Governor Soludo emphasised the state’s potential to become a leading digital hub in Africa.

Governor Soludo, represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, highlighted the government’s initiatives, noting that 25,000 youths have already received training in various skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and employers of labour. He pledged to continue efforts to create an enabling environment for innovators and those investing in technology.

Encouraging active participation, the governor urged youth at the event to engage wholeheartedly in activities, emphasising the importance of collaboration in addressing the region’s challenges through digital solutions.

Ms Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, described the Anambra Innovation Week as a historic gathering aimed at fostering collaboration, celebrating innovations, and charting a digital future for both Anambra and Africa. She outlined the objectives of the event, which include discussions on innovation demystification, a career conference for students and young professionals, and a focus on digital transformation for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and government through AI.

Leaders in innovation and technology stressed the significance of harnessing African cultural heritage for economic development. Mr. Daniel Chinagozi, CEO of PalmNet Consult Limited, emphasised the need for unity among experts to uncover innovative solutions that promote African culture globally through technology. He called for creative strategies to address the continent’s socio-economic challenges.

Mr. Chukwuemeka Agbata, CEO of the Anambra State Information and Technology Agency, reiterated the importance of collaboration and learning in the innovation process. He encouraged all Anambarians, regardless of their academic background, to seize opportunities for skill development in technology.

“As Anambra embraces this transformative initiative, the Governor’s vision for a digitally empowered state continues to inspire hope and drive progress across the region and beyond,” Agbata added.

The week will culminate in a Grand Summit featuring exhibitions and high-level ministerial panels, alongside the launch of significant initiatives, including the “One Million Anambra Digital Tribe” and the “Anambra Angel Network.” The event aims to provide actionable insights, networking opportunities, and a platform for participants to thrive in the digital economy.

The week-long event, themed “Creating the Future of Africa Now,” aims to empower the state’s youth with world-class skills and opportunities.
