Anambra Health Commissioner Commits to Affordable, Efficient Healthcare

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, during a recent meeting with Secondary Healthcare Administrators and Hospital Board Management at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat Complex in Awka, reiterated the State Government’s dedication to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to its residents.

Dr. Obidike emphasized the success of initiatives such as free antenatal care, free deliveries, and free surgeries in all government-owned hospitals. These efforts are part of a larger plan to ensure that healthcare services are available to the people of Anambra State at all times.

The Commissioner also stressed the importance of hospitals operating 24/7 with health workers readily available, as well as the government’s commitment to addressing issues such as welfare and the availability of essential medications.

 

 

Additionally, Dr. Obidike highlighted ongoing projects, such as the construction of an ultra-modern Trauma Centre at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), the construction of 5 new General Hospitals, and the extension of telemedicine services to all government-owned hospitals as part of Governor Charles Soludo’s efforts to improve the healthcare sector in the state.

Dr. Obidike called on Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) to lead by example and emphasized the importance of all stakeholders in the healthcare system being proactive and committed to providing quality care at all times.
