The Anambra Innovation Week 2024 officially kicked off on Monday, November 25, 2024 with a grand opening ceremony at the Anambra International Conference Centre, Awka.
The event with the theme “Creating the Future of Africa Now,” is srt to be a game-changer in shaping Africa’s digital future.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Chinwe Okoli, in her welcome address expressed her appreciation to all participants, dignitaries, and partners.
She emphasised the importance of innovation and technology in building a prosperous Africa, aligning with Governor Charles Soludo’s vision for a digitally empowered Anambra State.
The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo who is the chief host was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim.
“Prof Soludo is poised to build a formidable digital world in Anambra. The mantra *Everything technology, technology everywhere* is his driving force to achieve absolute digitisation,” he noted.
The five-day event will be featuring exciting activities; including discussions on demystifying innovation, digital ecosystem, and emerging tech trends.
The week will also feature a Career Conference tailored to students and young professionals across all 21 LGAs, complemented by a nationwide ICT quiz competition and startup hackathons.
On the third day, the focus will shift to the Digital Transformation Conference for SMEs and Government, where discussions will center on governance efficiency and leveraging AI for impactful service delivery.
The fourth day will feature the Startup Conference and Tradenovation Fair, where creativity and enterprise will be celebrated with exhibitions, panels, and startup pitching competitions.
The week will culminate on the fifth day with the Grand Summit, featuring exhibitions, high-level ministerial panels, and the official launch of transformative initiatives such as the One Million Anambra Digital Tribe and the Anambra Angel Network.
The event is also expected to launch the Anambra Innovation Marketplace, a state-of-the-art Maker space established in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Maker space is designed to democratise access to entrepreneurship and technological innovation, providing young people with the resources, skills, and collaborative environment to bring their ideas to life.
The Anambra Innovation Week 2024 is open to the public, and registration is free. The event is expected to attract participants from across the country and beyond, providing a platform for innovation, collaboration, and transformation.
The host, Chinwe Okoli encouraged participants to immerse themselves fully in the sessions, connect with fellow participants, and embrace the spirit of innovation that defines Anambra.
