Victor Umeh, the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone Candidate for Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, inaugurated his 75- Campaign Council Members at his campaign office, Udoka Housing Estate Awka, Anambra State.
During the inauguration, Umeh, a former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), promised that he would join other vocal lawmakers to defend issues concerning the South-South region on the floor of the Senate if elected. The campaign council’s Director General, Mr. Chukwudi Okeke, selected members across the seven Council Areas; Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North, Idemili South, Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia that made up the Central Senatorial Zone.
While addressing the Campaign team, Umeh assured the people of his constituency of quality representation, adding that the social-political development of the South would remain unattainable except committed people with vast experience like himself were allowed to change the narrative.
He stated, “The job of a lawmaker is to facilitate federal government projects to their senatorial zones and use law-making process to bring about quality governance and not the other way round. Within the 17- months I was at the Senate, I executed 55 projects across the district,” Umeh recalled.
Speaking also at the inauguration, the State Chairman of the party, Ugochukwu Eneh, informed members of the party that the selection of the principal officers of the campaign council was in line with the order of the LP National Executive Council. While charging the members to begin campaigns in their wards and local government areas with immediate effect, he expressed confidence that the election would be a victorious landslide. He added that at least 95 percent of votes would be secured by his constituency for all LP candidates in the state.
Okeke urged all party members to support the Campaign Council to ensure victory for the Party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, Senator Umeh, and other Candidates of the Labour Party in Anambra State.
