Anambra: LG Chairman Donates to Sickle Cell Orphanage

The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Comrade Rome Ibekwe, has made a significant donation to the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu in a heartwarming gesture this festive season.

Accompanied by esteemed members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), including Chairman Sir Anthony Ugorji and party stakeholder Chief Mrs. Ngozi Obikwelu, Mayor Ibekwe visited the home to assess the wellbeing of its residents and ensure they have access to quality medical care and essential food items.

During his visit, Ibekwe expressed his longstanding commitment to supporting the home, stating, “It has been my desire to monitor their well-being and ensure they receive the necessary medical attention and nutrition.” He was pleased with the conditions at the home and urged affluent individuals in the community to join in uplifting and supporting its residents.

 

 

Aisha Edward-Maduagwu, the Director of the Home, expressed her gratitude toward Mayor Ibekwe and his team, acknowledging their efforts in paying school fees, covering medical expenses, and enhancing the quality of life for the children. “An effort characterized by compassion and community spirit,” she added.

She also shared her appreciation for Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, noting their previous outreach efforts through the Commissioner of Health.

Following the visit to the orphanage, Mayor Ibekwe gathered women leaders from APGA across various wards in the local government. He encouraged them to highlight the impressive achievements of Governor Soludo’s administration, emphasizing ongoing projects such as skill acquisition training and youth empowerment initiatives, as well as the establishment of the Anaocha Mass Transit.

 

 

The donation comprised essential items including bags of rice and beans, tubers of yam, cartons of noodles, toiletries, detergents, and cash contributions.

The event saw participation from APGA’s woman leader in Anaocha LGA, Mrs. Ijeoma Sunny-Egbuna, showcasing a collective commitment to championing the needs of the community and enhancing the lives of its members during this festive season and beyond.
