Anambra Monarch Urges Nigerians to Remain Hopeful Amid Economic Hardship

The Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Nnaemeka Achebe, has called upon Nigerians to maintain hope and resilience in the face of the prevailing economic challenges in the country.

 

This message was conveyed in a statement issued by Chief  Okechukwu  Areh, the Chairman of the Ofala Steering Committee, ahead of the 2024 Ofala Festival, which is set to take place on October 18 and 19, 2024.
Entitled “Courage, Perseverance, and Self-Reliance” (Onye kwe, Chi’e ekwe), the theme for this year’s festival resonates deeply with the collective determination of the Nigerian people to rise above adversity.
The statement reads in part: “This theme reflects the monarch’s message of hope and resilience amidst the current hardships in our nation. As we navigate the challenges of our time, we draw inspiration from our rich cultural heritage and the timeless values upheld by our ancestors.”
The 2024 Ofala Eze Onicha is described as a call to action, urging citizens to harness their inner strength, collective resilience, and unwavering commitment to one another.

 

“We are proud to showcase our rich cultural heritage and promote unity within our community,”the statement continues. “We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the 2024 Ofala.”
On behalf of the Ofala Steering Committee, gratitude was expressed to esteemed sponsors of the festival, including Globacom Limited and International Breweries Plc (Hero Beer), for their ongoing support.
A representative from Globacom stated, “We are proud to once again partner with the Ofala Steering Committee to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The Ofala is a celebration of our nation’s diversity and resilience, and we are honored to be part of it.”

 

Similarly, Mr. Bamise Oyegbami, Marketing Director of International Breweries Plc, expressed that, “At International Breweries Plc, we believe in sustaining culture and tradition as pivotal means of uniting and inspiring our communities. We are delighted to support the 2024 Ofala and celebrate the courage, perseverance, and self-reliance of the Nigerian people.”
