Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has called on new National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to uphold patriotism, discipline, and impactful service during their stay in the state.

The Governor made the appeal during the Swearing-in Ceremony for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, Governor Soludo described the NYSC oath of allegiance as “a solemn covenant to uphold the values of service, integrity, unity, and sacrifice.”

He hailed the NYSC as one of Nigeria’s most enduring institutions for promoting national unity and development since the post-civil war era, noting the significant contributions of past corps members to sectors such as education, healthcare, and technology across Anambra State.

He said; “Do not merely pass through Anambra,” Governor Soludo urged. “Let Anambra pass through you. Make a difference. Let your presence be felt, not just in your khaki uniform, but through your integrity, kindness, and the impact you leave behind.”

The Governor cited an example of a corps member in Ayamelum Local Government Area who renovated a long-abandoned public facility, earning a State Honours Award for the act.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members and highlighted initiatives such as the Solution Innovation District, Code Anambra Tech Bootcamps, and the One Youth, Two Skills Programme as part of broader efforts to empower young Nigerians.

In her remarks, the Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, confirmed that 1,679 corps members had registered for the orientation course.

The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice D.C. Maduechesi, representing the State Chief Judge.

The event ended with a Guard of Honour mounted by the corps members.
