Anambra: PDP Inaugurates Standing Committee Ahead of Governorship Election

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held an inauguration ceremony for various standing committees in Awka, the state capital.
This is a means of strengthening its electoral strategy for the 2025 governorship election in the state.
According to the party’s State Chairman, Chidi Chidebe, “This initiative is part of a broader effort to unify the party and enhance its operational efficacy.”
Chidebe affirmed the importance of unity, discipline, and grassroots engagement.
He stated that the newly formed committees have been thoughtfully selected based on their experience, dedication, and loyalty to the party.
The Committees
These committees include: Strategic Planning and Policy Development Committee: This committee is tasked with shaping the party’s policy direction and ensuring strategic effectiveness.
Grassroots Mobilization and Outreach Committee: Focused on enhancing the PDP’s presence at the grassroots level and actively engaging with voters.
Reconciliation and Unity Committee Dedicated to healing existing rifts within the party and fostering internal cohesion.
Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Committee: Responsible for ensuring the financial viability and sustainability of the party.
Media and Communication Committee: Charged with managing public relations and boosting the party’s visibility in the media.
State Elders Committee: Comprising seasoned leaders who will provide insightful guidance for the party’s strategic objectives.
During the inauguration, a significant resolution passed in support of Mr. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary and Mr. Peter Mbah as the leader of the South-East caucus.
This motion, moved by former interim chairman Mr. Chigozie Igwe and Mr. Chijioke Ofoegbunam, received unanimous backing from party members.
Chidebe stated that the formation of these standing committees marks a departure from the past reliance on ad hoc committees set up solely for elections.
“Today is about laying the foundation for a stronger, more united, and strategic PDP in Anambra,” he remarked.
“The emphasis is on maintaining a well-structured party that remains deeply connected to grassroots issues while being fully prepared to reclaim leadership in governance.
“Moreover, the party is committed to reconciling with genuinely aggrieved members to facilitate their reintegration.
A former PDP Chairman in Anambra, Ndubisi Nwobu expressed optimism about the party’s potential to reclaim its status as the leading political force in the state.
He encouraged members to strive for unity and greatness, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects for success in the upcoming November 8 governorship election.
