A former frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Rommy Okoli who recently dumped the party to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says he would retire from politics if the PDP candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo doesn’t emerge victorious in the Saturday’s governorship election.
Okoli popularly known as the Messenger in the political and social circles was officially received into PDP on Tuesday by Mr Valentine Ozigbo and the former governor of the state, Mr Peter Obi as well as other leadership. The former chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Area said emphatically that the PDP candidate, Ozigbo is the only person who can rebuild Anambra State.
“Mr Valentine Ozigbo is a very intelligent person and a good manager of man and resources who has proven his capability and capacity in the organized private sector. He is a gentle and amiable leader who has what it takes to rebuild our dear state.
“If a character like Ozigbo does not emerge victorious in the November 6 governorship election, then there is no need to continue to be a politician, I will voluntarily retire from politics. The benefits and comparative advantages of having him as governor of Anambra State cannot be over emphasized.
“The APGA governorship candidate, Prof Charles Soludo maybe everything but he lacks the leadership capacity to galvanize the process of rebuilding of Anambra State.
“I know that campaign time is over and I am not by any means campaigning for Ozigbo who has done justice to that during the constitutionally specified time to do that but I am placing my political career spanning over twenty years on line if the PDP candidate is not given the mandate to be the next governor of Anambra State.”
He affirmed that there was no need for Ndi-Anambra to start experimenting with candidates of other political parties in the election when a tested and trusted person was already is in the race.
