The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Ozo Jeff Nweke, has become one of the first aspirants to comply with the controversial ₦50 million political campaign levy imposed by the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA).
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ANSAA, Mr. Tony Ujubuonu, had announced the fee at a press briefing two weeks ago, warning that the agency would prosecute any political actor who displayed outdoor campaign materials, such as posters, billboards, or branded vehicles. without first obtaining the required campaign license.
Despite describing the levy as illegal and burdensome, Nweke opted to pay the fee in order to avoid any legal obstacles to his campaign.
Represented by his running mate, Mr. Obi Elvis Anayochukwu, and a delegation of party supporters, Nweke said the move would allow his campaign to fully mobilize across Anambra’s 326 electoral wards without fear of disruption.

“We consider the ₦50 million fee excessive and legally questionable,” Nweke stated through his representative. “However, we don’t want any hurdles preventing us from reaching every voter. Our campaign is set to flood the state with posters, handbills, billboards, and branded vehicles,” he said.
A security expert and entrepreneur, Nweke expressed confidence in his chances ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election. He characterized the contest as a two-horse race between the Action Alliance and “others.”
He says, “This election is about the people,” he said. “It’s between Action Alliance and the rest. Anambra voters will decide, and they will choose a candidate who has the passion to uplift the state, secure lives and properties, and restore dignity to governance.”
Nweke also highlighted key pillars of his platform, including robust security reforms and policies aimed at attracting both local and foreign investment.
“Ozo Jeff Nweke is not a new name. He is well known throughout Anambra and beyond. We are hearing directly from the people, they want change, and we are ready to deliver it,” he added.
