A joint security operation in Anambra State has led to the rescue of a kidnapped victim and the killing of a suspected abductor in Ihiala Local Government Area.
The Police, in collaboration with the military and local vigilantes, intercepted a black shuttle bus carrying armed men who opened fire on security operatives, sparking a gun battle.
Anambra Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that one suspect was neutralised while others fled with gunshot wounds.
The victim, found blindfolded and tied up inside the vehicle, received immediate medical attention.
Authorities have urged “hospitals to report anyone seeking treatment for bullet wounds as the manhunt for the fleeing suspects continues.”
The police reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security through strategic patrols and intelligence-driven operations.
