The National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, a grassroots based political support structure of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, says the party is ready to retain the Anambra South Senatorial seat
Sir Azuka Okwuosa, last week emerged as candidate of the party for the August 16th bye-election to fill the vacant seat created by the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Awogu, a former Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters, stated this in Nnewi, Anambra State, during a strategic meeting of IKEMBA FRONT members in Anambra South senatorial zone aimed at forming ward/polling units canvasers for the 16th ,August 2025 senatorial bye-election.
“APC is making a loud statement with the senatorial bye-election to the effect that it is the precursor to the November 8th Anambra State governorship election and as such our party will leave no stone unturned.
“The seat shall be retained by the party and Ikemba Front will be conspicuously involved hence our reason for this assemblage.
“The demonstration of the party’s readiness to retain the seat is manifest in the emergence of Sir Azuka Okwuosa, a former old Nnewi Local Government Council Chairman, a former Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state, a close confidant of our eternal leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and a friend and supporter of our late principal, Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
“Our winning the bye-election is further strengthened by the choice of candidates made by the opposition political parties whose candidates for the election are weak and feeble and without endearing ties with the people of the zone save that they are from the zone. APC is coming out strong for the senatorial bye-election,” Sir Awogu said.
Seven local government areas are involved in the Anambra South senatorial bye-election; Aguata, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North and Orumba South.
All the major political parties have fielded names of their candidates for the bye election with ADC having Barrister Chukwudi Amangbo, as its candidate; Honourable Chuma Nzeribe – Labour Party; Dr. Emma Nwachukwu – APGA; Prince Ofobuike Okoli-Egbo – YPP and Chief Sir Engr. Azuka Okwuosa for APC.
Sir Awogu opined that the candidate of APC, Sir Azuka Okwuosa is the most prepared and qualified for the job and asked the people of Anambra South senatorial zone to vote the APC candidate for wide range of impactful representation.
Sir Azuka Okwuosa who also was in the strategic meeting was accompanied by his Campaign Director General, Hon. Theophilus Nnorom, Dr. Mrs Nkechi Nnoli, Chief Maxwell Ujubuonu, Chief Obi Onwuachu, Hon. Amobi Nwafor, Hon. Chika Ezenwaka, Hon. Onyeka Owelle Mbaso among others.
