The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, has called for religious tolerance while extending goodwill to Muslim faithful celebrating Eid-el-Fitr.
In his message, Udeze emphasized the necessity of prioritizing the nation’s growth and development through peace and unity. He reminded everyone that, despite diverse religious beliefs, there is one God who governs the affairs of humanity and the universe.
According to a press release from his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu, Udeze urged Muslims to focus on fostering harmony and collaboration with their Christian counterparts, advocating for an embrace of each other’s religious differences under the shared belief in God.
The Speaker stressed that religious bigotry and division hinder national progress and encouraged Muslims to demonstrate love towards one another and their Christian neighbors. He believes that love has the power to eliminate hatred, envy, and anger, as well as other negative tendencies.
Udeze also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his spirit of ecumenism and the hospitality he has shown towards the Muslim community in the state. He called on the community to reciprocate this goodwill by extending greater support to the Governor.
