An APC Chieftain in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma has stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria to find effective solutions.
In an interview with Voice of Nigeria, Chukwuma highlighted weak local governance, economic inequality, and organised crime as key factors contributing to insecurity in the country.
He emphasised the need for enhanced security infrastructure and community initiatives to combat the issue.
Chukwuma pointed out that weak governance and corruption were major drivers of insecurity, creating a sense of unsafe environments and hindering access to essential services for citizens.
“Economic inequality, exacerbated by disparities between rich and poor, along with high youth unemployment rates, further fuel criminal activities and violent crimes in communities,” he said.
Way Forward
Emphasising the importance of investment in security infrastructure, Chukwuma advocated for improving road and railway systems to enhance travel safety and economic productivity.
He also stressed the need for upgraded communication systems, increased energy capacity, and development of water supply and food processing facilities to ensure national security.
Highlighting the role of community initiatives in fostering security, Chukwuma noted that promoting education, health, and economic empowerment can significantly reduce insecurity.
He cited building and repairing schools, expanding healthcare access, and strengthening law enforcement as key measures to enhance security and stability.
