Anambra State Assembly Begins Debate On 2022-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework

The medium-term expenditure framework, which was referred to the house committee on Finance and Appropriation to work on and refer back to the house during plenary, was presented by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for consideration and passage.

Introducing the framework to the House, the Deputy Majority Leader, Chief Emeka Aforka, emphasised that the document gives an insight into revenue and expenditure plans of Anambra State Government for the next three years and pre- requisite for the presentation of the 2023 budget estimate to the house.

In his contribution, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Internally Generated Revenue, Honourable Nonso Smart-Okafor, stressed the need for the Anambra State Executive Council to always harness views to safeguard the state from depending on national projections.

Also, in their contributions, the deputy speaker, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, the Chief Whip, Dr. Pete Ibida and the member representing Anaocha Two Constituency, Chief Ejike Okechukwu, observed that the 2022-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework of the state showed the clear-cut vision of Governor Soludo for the state.

While commending the efforts of Governor Soludo in developing Anambra State, the member representing Ogbaru Two Constituency, Somtochukwu Udeze, observed that the federal allocation to Anambra State and its internally generated revenue were not sufficient to achieve the rapid development of the state and advised Governor Soludo to source for loan or grant outside the state to meet the infrastructural needs of the state, while the speaker, Right Honourable Uche Okafor added that securing loan or grant will enable the governor to meet the development needs of the state.

The house later observed a minute silence in honour of the first Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi, who passed on recently.
