Anambra State Assembly Passes Economic Planning and Development Bill Into Law

Anambra State House of Assembly has passed the Economic Planning and Development Bill into law.

The bill, which aims to establish the Anambra State Economic Planning Board in accordance with Section 73 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, was presented and considered by the joint House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, and the Committee on Economic Planning, SDGs, and International Organisations, presented by Mr. Ejike Okechukwu.

The bill was referred to the joint Committee after the second reading on September 26, 2024, by Anambra Assembly Speaker, Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze.

Following deliberations and amendments by the joint Committee, the bill was read for the third time and passed into law.

The Speaker announced that the law would take effect from the 8th of October 2024, emphasising the importance of the bill in planning and developing the economic landscape of Anambra State.

The House adjourned and is set to reconvene on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, marking a significant step towards economic growth and development in Anambra State.
