Anambra State Begins Distribution Of Post Flood Relief Materials

The Anambra state government has began the distribution of relief materials donated to the state by various groups for victims of this year’s flood disaster.

The State Deputy Governor, Onyekachukwu Ibezim who officially flagged off the distribution said the relief materials would help the flood victims recoup from the losses as they return to their homes.

While flagging off the exercise on behalf of the Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo at the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA office in Awka, Dr Ibezim appreciated the donors for fulfilling part their social responsibilities, and asked them to do more for the society.

Deputy Governor Ibezim regretted that the flood caused lots of damage in the affected areas.

He stated that it would have been more disastrous if it was not the timely intervention of Anambra state government in the areas of evacuation of the victims to holding centres, provision of palliative, and quality healthcare services for the victims throughout the period at the holding centres.

He assured that the state government through its officials would continue to monitor the distribution of the palliatives to make sure they get to the right people.

The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Mr. Paul Odenigbo explained that the distribution of the palliatives was done by the number of affected communities.

He also commended various bodies that have been donating to the state since the flood incident.
