The Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, was recently recognized with the National Philanthropist Award for his outstanding humanitarian service.

The prestigious award was presented to him by the Royal Ambassadors Family Enlightenment Foundation (RAFEF) in partnership with the Green Revolution Farmers Feed the Nation Foundation (GRFFNF)

During the award ceremony held at RAFEF’s 2024 love feast in Awka, the state capital, Commissioner Udechukwu expressed his appreciation for the organizers’ commitment to making a positive impact on society.

He reiterated Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision to transform Anambra State into a smart mega city where residents can live, learn, invest, work, relax, and enjoy life.

Commissioner Udechukwu emphasized the importance of the “Farm to Feed” initiative launched by Governor Soludo, which aims to address rising prices and improve quality of living through increased agricultural productivity.

He encouraged individuals to cultivate their own crops to reduce reliance on market goods, ultimately leading to national food sufficiency.

The commissioner also highlighted the government’s efforts to combat poverty through agricultural development, including the distribution of millions of hybrid palm oil seeds to local communities.

He discussed partnerships with cooperatives, access to finance through the Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA), and the promotion of palm oil cultivation as a means to combat poverty.

We are handing out millions of Palm oil seeds and over 2 million was given out this year through community structure to ensure it gets to the grassroots because it’s a hybrid variety which would start yielding seeds in about 2 to 4 years.

“We are also starting a major agricultural revolution that would restore the place of palm oil in the state as a wealth creating medium to escape and end the cycle of poverty in our society which is in line with Green Revolution and the Royal Ambassadors conviction, “Udechukwu added.

Mr. Jonathan Okwudili, Director General of NAFEF and GRFFNF, praised the state government’s initiatives to empower youth and women through farming projects.

He commended the commitment to community development and unity, as well as the organization’s focus on innovation and progress.

In her address, Mrs. Chinwe Mgbejiofor, Executive Secretary of RAFEF, emphasized the organization’s dedication to rural development and community-driven projects that have improved the lives of many across Nigeria.

She highlighted RAFEF’s role in education, skills development, and economic empowerment to build resilience and self-reliance in communities.

The Royal father of the day, Igwe Emeka Ilouno, Igwe of Ifitedunu, praised Commissioner Udechukwu for his inspiring words and urged the organizers to remain focused on their mission to alleviate poverty and ensure food security in the region.
