The Elite Youths of Anam Foundation (EYAF) has issued an urgent call for the enhancement of initiatives aimed at empowering young people through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
In a statement released following the graduation of 43 youths from Anam at the inaugural Industrial Skill Acquisition and Applications Centre (ISAAC) at Onitsha Business School (OBS), EYAF emphasized the need for more robust support systems to harness youthful potential for economic transformation in the Anambra West Local Government Area and beyond.
The graduation event, held recently at Onitsha Business School, represented a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to channel the talents and aspirations of young individuals toward entrepreneurial success.
The statement, co-signed by EYAF President Dr. Christopher Anekwe, Secretary JohnPaul Udoba, and Public Relations Officer Olisemeka Obeche, highlighted the practical training undertaken by the participants over six months, which was designed to cultivate their entrepreneurial skills in various disciplines, ultimately enabling them to establish their own businesses.
During the ceremony, several graduates were recognized for their potential with financial grants: six received N500,000 each, one received N300,000, and another was awarded N250,000, with plans for further empowerment initiatives for all graduates.
EYAF expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Kenneth Nzegwu, an esteemed son of Anambra State, for sponsoring the training of the 43 graduates at Onitsha Business School, where the ISAAC program typically costs N480,000 per participant.
They acknowledged the invaluable instruction provided by the Director General of Onitsha Business School, Prof. Olusegun Sogbesan, and his team, who not only imparted knowledge but also committed to offering mentorship and opportunities for success.
In a statement emphasizing the readiness of the graduates, EYAF called for an increase in empowerment support to help realize their vision of fostering a new generation of successful millionaire entrepreneurs in Anambra state.
“As the world encounters rapid technological advancements and economic changes, it is crucial to equip our youth with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to excel in an increasingly competitive landscape,” EYAF stated. “We strongly believe that investing in youth empowerment is vital for spurring innovation, reducing unemployment, and driving sustainable economic growth.”
The foundation urged the Anambra government, national and state legislative representatives, non-profit organizations, and the private sector to collaborate and sustain this essential initiative focused on vocational training, mentorship opportunities, and funding access for emerging entrepreneurs. “By doing so, we can harness the vibrant potential of our youth and guide them toward productive pathways,” they asserted.
Additionally, EYAF is actively pursuing partnerships to launch workshops, training sessions, and entrepreneurial incubators aimed at helping young individuals acquire relevant job market skills and encouraging them to embark on their own business journeys.
“We invite stakeholders from various sectors to join us in this crucial movement to not only inspire and empower our youth but also to secure a thriving future for our communities,” EYAF concluded. “Together, we can break the cycle of poverty, enhance employability, and nurture a culture of entrepreneurship that will benefit generations to come.”
EYAF also paid homage to notable individuals who attended the graduation ceremony, including members of its Board of Trustees, represented by Secretary Barr. Victor Nwakasi, as well as representatives from the Anambra People’s Assembly, local government, and community organizations, highlighting the collective commitment to youth empowerment and development in Anambra state.
