Anambra State Governor Advocates for Family Reinforcement

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has stressed the vital role of the family unit in society, calling for collective efforts to rebuild its foundational strength.
Governor Soludo made this declaration during a holy mass commemorating his 32nd wedding anniversary at Isuofia in the Aguata Local Government Area. He highlighted the correlation between family breakdown and the rise of insecurity in the state, noting that many of the individuals involved in such disturbances stem from fractured homes.
In a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Nonye, whom he described as a “virtuous woman” and “God-given gift,” Governor Soludo recounted the beginnings of their love story. He shared that their annual anniversary serves as a beacon of hope, a time dedicated to praying for troubled marriages.
Earlier in his homily, the Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of the Awka Diocese, urged attendees to seek divine guidance in all circumstances. He praised the Soludo marriage as a model for couples, encouraging the Governor to continue his commendable work for the state. He rated the occasion as a call to action for all to invest in the family as a cornerstone for societal harmony and progress.
Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), congratulated the Soludos and urged younger couples to draw inspiration from their enduring relationship, highlighting that strengthening families is essential to mending a fractured society.
The celebration was well-attended, with notable figures including Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze, and the Traditional Ruler of Isuofia, Igwe Aloysius Moghalu, among various other government officials and clergy.
Meanwhile, Governor Soludo who further appreciated his wife on his verified social media handle said, “Today, I celebrate an incredible 32 years of marriage to my lovely wife, Nonye Soludo, my Queen!
“It has been a yearly ritual that never gets old, and I am grateful for every moment we have shared. As I always say, marrying Nonye made me realize just how blessed I am by God.
“I want to thank everyone who joined us for a solemn Mass of thanksgiving at our country-home in Isuofia.
“Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and adventure together.
“Happy anniversary to the Queen of my world!”
Similarly on her verified social media handle Mrs Soludo said, “Today, before God’s Holy Altar, I renewed my marriage covenant with my soul mate and the man after my heart.
“Before our beautiful children, relatives, and friends, we prayed to God, who established this amazing union thirty-two years ago, to lead us farther than He already has. To strengthen our bond of peace and love, and to continue to use this holy union as the right note of what true love should be.
“Thank you all for being a witness to this renewed vow of love.”
