Anambra state Governor Affirms Prioritisation Of Primary Healthcare Sector

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has affirmed to continue partnering the federal government in prioritizing primary healthcare provision for Anambra citizens.

Governor Soludo stated this when the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Pate paid him a courtesy call at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Awka, the state capital.

Governor Soludo who pointed out that his administration is already driving development in the health sector across the 326 political wards in Anambra State stated that presently, his administration has recorded over 60,000 beneficiaries of free antenatal care and delivery services.

He also identified water, sanitation, waste management and nutrition as great priorities for his government which also ties into what the federal government is doing, expressing optimism that Anambra and the federal government will continue to join hands to foster partnership that will benefit the people.

Governor Soludo revealed that, “When he took over the reins of power, 78% of ndị Anambra used to assess healthcare through private institutions, announcing that as he began to intervene, the percentage kept decreasing.”

The Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Pate appreciated Governor Soludo for the great work he is doing with his team in the service of Anambra people.

While pointing out that the state health team has been working closely with the federal government to advance the health needs of Anambra people, the Minister called for more collaborative efforts to touch more lives.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, Special Adviser on Medical and Pharmaceutical Matters, Godwin Nnadozie, Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike, Founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Sir Emeka Offor, former Deputy Governor of Enugu state, Dr. Okechukwu Itanyi, Majority Leader at the State House of Assembly, Sir Ikenna Ofordeme, among others, were present at the event.

Meanwhile, the health minister is in Anambra State for the commissioning of federal government projects and commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the commissioning of the permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, Nnewi Anambra State today, Wednesday, July 17,2024.
