Anambra State Governor Commends Peaceful Conduct of LG Elections

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has praised the peaceful and orderly execution of the Local Government Elections held across the state.

Governor Soludo arrived at his polling unit, designated as 002 at Ofuiyi Square in Umueze, Isuofia Ward 13, Aguata Local Government Area, where he cast his vote around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.

The governor expressed his satisfaction with the smooth progress of the electoral process.

He noted that reports indicated a generally peaceful atmosphere across all polling units in the 21 local government areas of the state.

He urged residents to actively participate in the election, emphasizing the importance of voter engagement.

“I commend the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission for their timely commencement of the voting process.

“This election marks a promise fulfilled and serves as a benchmark for transparency and credibility in local government elections..

“From the feedback I’ve received prior to casting my vote, it is clear that voters are participating peacefully. Here, and throughout the state, everything is proceeding smoothly,” he said.

The governor also highlighted the significant enthusiasm expressed by voters.

Our party is the only one fielding candidates for all 21 chairmanship and 326 councilorship positions, which demonstrates our commitment to the electoral process,” he stated.

He concluded by likening the event to a “mock referendum,” expressing confidence that the will of the people would ultimately prevail.
