Anambra State Governor’s Wife Provides Support To Flood-Displaced Individuals

The wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has shown her support for flood-displaced individuals in Umuoba-Anam in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state by providing foodstuffs, cash donations, and emphasizing the need for stakeholders and community involvement in aiding those affected by the disaster.
During her visit to Unity Primary School, which currently shelters about 1,000 displaced individuals, primarily women and children, Mrs. Soludo highlighted the government’s concern for the displaced persons’ wellbeing, particularly regarding health and hygiene standards in the camp. She urged camp managers to ensure proper dietary practices and maintain safety protocols.
Additionally, Dr. Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, World Health Organisation’s (WHO) South East Zonal Coordinator, pledged collaboration with the state government to establish a mobile clinic in the camp to address medical needs.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, confirmed ongoing medical support for those in the camp and praised the governor’s wife’s timely visit.
Accompanied by a team from the World Health Organization (WHO), led by South East Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, Mrs. Soludo addressed the residents of the camp in Umuoba Anam, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting those affected by the natural disaster.
She stressed the importance of prioritizing health and sanitation within the camp, particularly focusing on the well-being of women and children. Plans to establish a mobile clinic within the camp were revealed to address emerging medical needs and prevent further health complications.
The Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Sir Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, expressed gratitude for the government’s ongoing support in meeting the daily needs of the camp residents and commended Mrs. Soludo for her visit and solidarity.
