Anambra State Governor’s Wife Welcomes First Baby of 2025

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, on Wednesday visited the General Hospital in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA to welcome the first baby of 2025 into the world.

During her visit, she presented gift items to the newborns and their families, spreading goodwill and joy.

The first baby of the year, a boy weighing 2.4 kilograms, was born to Mrs. Elizabeth Nwachukwu from Enugu State through normal delivery at 12:18 a.m. Another baby girl, weighing 4 kilograms, was born to Mrs. Chinaza Mmuoghalum at the General Hospital in Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA.

Mrs. Soludo, founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, emphasized the importance of the birth of a child, especially in the New Year, as a symbol of good fortune for both families and society. She commended the efforts of health workers in providing effective services to mothers and babies.

Encouraging mothers to adopt a healthy lifestyle and practice exclusive breastfeeding for six months, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the benefits for the child’s health and reducing healthcare costs. She also lauded the state government’s efforts in enhancing maternal and child health policies and improving healthcare facilities.

Mrs. Soludo said, “I do this every year to welcome our new babies into the world, celebrate with their families, and show our love, kindness, and gratitude to God.

“I am impressed with the health workers and their relentless efforts in providing effective services to mothers and babies.”

Dr. Afam Obidike, the Commissioner for Health, encouraged mothers to take advantage of the state government’s free antenatal and delivery services, as well as immunization programs.

One of the mothers, Mrs. Nwachukwu, expressed gratitude for the free antenatal care and delivery services provided by the state government.
