Anambra State’s aspirations to increase the number of judges from the region have received a significant boost with the rapid advancement of the Judges Quarters project in Onitsha.
This initiative, a response to a request from the National Judicial Council, aims to provide essential housing for judges and their families.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Housing Pauly Onyeka made this announcement following a site inspection of the Judges Quarters, a key government project.
Construction began just a month ago and has swiftly progressed to the roofing stage. Currently, one of the five buildings is fully roofed while another has completed the parapet phase, with the remaining structures nearing completion,” the commissioner said.
Mr. Onyeka emphasised that the expedited timeline aligns with the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which prioritises the timely completion of projects.
He noted that all required materials and funding have been secured, facilitating this swift development.
The Commissioner set a two-week deadline for the contractors to complete the project, highlighting its importance in attracting judges of Anambra extraction to bolster local judicial representation.
During the inspection, representatives from the construction firms involved—the Times Company Limited, Global Impex Company, Tivoge Properties Limited, and Artisan Developers Limited expressed their commitment to adhering to the Commissioner’s directives. They voiced enthusiasm for their role in fulfilling this critical project for the state.
Onyeka noted that with the Judges Quarters project surging toward completion, Anambra is poised to strengthen its judiciary and enhance its legal landscape.
