The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Anambra State House of Assembly, Awka North constituency, Arinze Victor, has promised not to fail his constituents if elected into office.

Victor, while speaking to members of St Anthony Catholic Church, Amansea recently said for agriculture, Awka North was to be counted amongst the leading local governments but blamed lack of proper representation in attracting government attention to the area.

In an exclusive interview, the YPP candidate said, “I came into this race because it’s a divine mandate. I was motivated by what I saw in my locality and constituency. If I win this race by God’s grace, I will change the narrative. I will bring the legislature to every doorstep in Awka North. Agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment will be the focus.

“There will be scholarship and skill acquisition. The health care system and services will improve so the people of Awka North will stop dying prematurely and have maternal mortality reduced. These are the dividends of democracy they deny us.

Awka North is lagging in governance and is the most marginalised compared to other constituencies. There are no dividends of good democracy in Awka North except recently when governor Chukwuma Soludo flagged off roads which we appreciate.”

Regarding the recent flood that affected some parts of Awka North constituency, the YPP candidate said, “if elected, I will move a motion and sponsor a bill to provide housing scheme for victims of flood and those living around riverine areas. To avoid reoccurrence of such incidents in the future, the flood victims should be relocated, and the flood areas turned to become tourism sites by building beach and resorts which will generate money for government,” he stated.
