Anambra Traders Sports Competition: Bridgehead Market Emerges Champions

The Bridgehead Market football team emerged victorious in the second Anambra Traders Sports Competition, securing a 4-0 win against Oraeri Market to claim the championship title in a thrilling match, at the Awka Township Stadium in Anambra State, Nigeria. in an exciting display of talent and sportsmanship
The competition, which was organised by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission and Anambra State Amalgamated Market Traders Association (ASMATA), kicked off on October 25th with 118 markets competing in five sporting events including Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Draft and Ncho.
In the third-place match, Building Materials Market, Ogbunike defeated Nnobi Amalgamated Traders Association football team 1-0, securing the bronze medals and finishing in third place.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo graciously provided prize money for the top three winners, with the champions receiving N6 million, the runners-up receiving N3 million,and the third-place team receiving N1.5 million.
Individual athletes also showcased their skills in various events, with winners like Ozoagu Valentine of Eke Oyibo market, Amawbia claiming gold in Draft and Emeka Emewulu of Bridgehead Market, Onitsha winning gold in Tennis.
Overall, the competition was a display of unity and talent among traders from various markets in Anambra State. Governor Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff Earnest Ezeajughi, presented the cup to the winners of the football event and officially declared the competition closed.
Key dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony included Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of ASSDC, Evarist Ubah, SPAD on Markets,and Izuchukwu Okafor, Commissioner for Finance, among others.
