The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) has awarded hosting of the second edition of African School Games billed for 2027 to Nigeria.

Mustapha Berraf, Président of ANOCA, announced the award in a letter addressed to Habu Gumel, President of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), dated Aug 5.

The maiden edition of the African school games was held in Anaba, Algeria between July 24 and Aug.5.

A copy of the letter, made available by Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of NOC on Wednesday in Awka, said ANOCA reached the decision at its Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting.

The continental body of Africa Olympic Movement expressed confident that NOC with the Federal Government of Nigeria would demonstrate the highest level of commitment, capacity, and hospitality to organise a successful event.

We are confident that the 2027 edition will not only uphold the values and objectives of the African School Games but also match or surpass the success of the maiden edition held in 2025.

“ANOCA remains available to providing technical support and guidance throughout the preparatory process to ensure the success of this continental youth sporting celebration.

“Please accept our heartfelt congratulations and assurances of our highest sporting regards,” Berraf said.
