The Gombe State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested 26 drug suspects with 2.654 kgs of drugs seized in the ongoing mop-up operation.
The NDLEA said in a statement signed by the command’s Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Henry E. Ihebuzor, that the mop-up was preparatory to the May 29 Inauguration of the second tenure of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Mr. Ihebuzor, the command, under the leadership of the State Commander, Mr. Okechukwu Nkere, carried out the mop-up in response to a directive from the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA Brig-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa.

The statement said the drugs seized comprised 2.570kgs of cannabis sativa and 84gms of psychotropic substances, bringing the total seizure to 2.654kgs.
The Commander warned drug dealers and traffickers in the state to desist from the act or face the wrath of the law, “as our searchlight is all over the nooks and crannies of the state to rid it of illicit drug activities. The raids and dislodgements are across the state at different locations, particularly at drug joints and black spots.”

The Gombe State Commander of the NDLEA gave assurances that the mop-up would be sustained, even after the ceremony, stressing that there will be no hiding place for drug dealers and traffickers in the state.
