National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Niger State Command has arrested 71 suspects connected to different related cases across the State.
Barrister Haruna Kwatashe the Commander of the Niger State command stated this during the commemoration of United Nations International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Minna Niger State Capital on Monday.
Barrister Kwetishe who further said the agency has succeeded in having 21 convictions in the drugs related cases.
“We’ve arrested 71 Males and 1 Female suspects and a siezures of 2,022 .368 Kgms of various illicit drugs and 2,4435 litres of liquid drugs from January to June, 2022.“
“The command has established a rehabilitation centre with adequate facilitates in it’s effort of achieving society free of drugs and related cases.“
The Commissioner for health, Dr Makun Sidi who represented the Governor of the state acknowledged the activities of the NDLEA and also called for more recruitment of NDLEA officials to cater for the task of controlling drug trafficking in the country.
He said the state government has established an agency for Drug management to control the activities of drug businesses and also to compliment the efforts of the NDLEA in the state.
