Nigeria’s Anti-narcotics Agency, the National Drug Laws Enforcement Agency NDLEA has arrested a widower, Mr Ariyibi Olaseinde and a divorcee, Akanbi Tunrayo who were going for lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia for attempting to export 14.4 kilograms of cocaine concealed in lace and Ankara fabrics.
According to a press statement by the agency’s spokesperson, Mr Femi BabaFemi, the suspects were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos on Wednesday 19th April and Thursday 20th
respectively.

Mr Ariyibi and Miss Akanbi were both intercepted during the outward clearance of Qatar Airways passengers from Lagos via Doha to Saudi Arabia.
Also, NDLEA officers attached to courier companies have intercepted two drug consignments consisting of ecstasy and skunk going to the United Arab Emirates.
In another development, a notorious drug dealer in the Okitipupa area of Ondo state, Mathew Obateru, 42, has also been taken into custody after different quantities of Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Colorado and Loud were recovered from him.
Also, a 400-level Marine Engineering student at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa state, Kelvin Ogenedoro has been arrested for dealing in 600 grams of skunk.
The NDLEA’S spokesperson noted that the agency in its last week of operations was able to arrest many drug traffickers in Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Edo, Ogun, Imo and Ondo States with various quantities of drug intercepted.
While commending the officers and men of the affected commands the Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa charged them and their compatriots across the country to continue to raise the bar of professionalism in the daily discharge of their responsibilities.
