The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Southern Nigeria has confirmed that its elective congresses will proceed as planned on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
This announcement follows a recent court ruling that cleared the party to conduct the congresses without legal hindrance.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu made this known in a statement.
He said “The ex-parte order in Suit No: PHC/2699/CS/2024 between Peter Ohochukwu & Anor vs. His Excellency, Abdullahi Ganduje & 5 Ors, which initially restrained the APC from conducting the congress, has been vacated.
“The Rivers State High Court has ruled that there is no order preventing the APC from organizing the Rivers State Elective Congress.
“In light of this development, the APC will proceed with the Congress, reaffirming its commitment to due process and the rule of law” Mr. Argungu added.
