The All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress Appeal Committee assigned to Kwara State has cautioned against frivolous petition from any aggrieved member of the party.

The Committee, however,  promised to be fair and just in handling any dispute or petition arising from the last local government congress that took place two weeks ago in the state.

The chairman of the Appeal Committee, Barrister Tanimu Adabson made these known while addressing APC stakeholders at the Banquet Hall opposite Government House Ilorin, Kwara State capital North Central Nigeria.

Barrister Adabson who is the Sarkin Panda assured all aggrieved members of the party in the state if any, that the committee is ready to listen to their grievances and address their petitions with a view to building a united All Progressives Congress.

Barrister Adabson explained that the party is on the right track and would not shut its door on anybody, urging any member who has a genuine petition to submit it to the committee directly at the APC Secretariat in the state between Friday and Saturday this week.

Such petition according to him, should be well signed by the petitioner, including his or her phone number and the local government he or she represents.

He urged them to behave as progressives stressing that in any contest, there is bound to be a loser and a winner but warned against creating any setback for the party as a result of any defeat in an election.

The Committee chairman commended the leadership of the party in the state for arriving at a consensus formula in picking their ward and local government leaders and described Kwara as a state of peace.

He praised women in the state for their steadfastness and their loyalty to the APC.

In his opening remarks at the stakeholders meeting, the State chairman APC caretaker committee, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari urged members of the party who have issues in their respective local governments to take advantage of the opportunity to further cement unity within the party.

Alhaji Samari urged members of the party to continue to see themselves as members of the same family for the progress of the party.

At the stakeholders meeting, a minute silence was observed in honor of a late party chieftain, Chief Rex Olawoye who died on Thursday during a brief illness.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq has described Late Olawoye as a patriot and a pillar of a struggle that enthroned the Oto gé administration in the state.

According to him,  Olawoye was a delight to be with, a soft-spoken gentleman and orator, a lover of the younger generation, a dogged fighter, and certainly a statesman who played a pivotal role in the political development of the state over the past few decades. We will miss his clarity of thought, his brilliance, and his constructive advice on governance.

“His words of wisdom even on his sickbed when I last spoke with him were quite reassuring as we were earnestly expectant of his recovery” the governor said.
