Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has increased security presence in its National Secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja. They have blocked, thus, all roads leading to the Secretariat restricting vehicular movement. The staff and party members also do not have free access to the Secretariat.

A police officer responding to a question from Voice of Nigeria’s Correspondent said they were there to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
This occurrence could be about the unconfirmed media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari sacked the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni and appointed the Governor of Niger state, Sani Bello, to manage the affairs of the party.
In reaction to these media reports, the Secretary of the APC’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, said the report is fake and urged the public to disregard the news.
“Our attention has been drawn to sponsored media reports on an imaginary leadership change in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
“The media report is fake news and should be disregarded. The APC is a progressive political party guided by rules. Leadership changes are not announced by ‘sources’ through name dropping in the media.
“We urge our teeming supporters, members and indeed the general public to remain calm and support the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC. CECPC conduct a rancour-free and credible National Convention deserving of our great party,” he said.
