The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged its spokesmen nationwide to combat the spread of falsehood as a political tool.

The party condemned the trend of individuals who lost the 2023 election already campaigning for 2027, stressing that Nigeria’s system requires continuous education and sensitisation of its citizens on government achievements.

This call was made by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bashir Ajibola, during a seminar organised for the party’s Zonal and State Secretaries in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The seminar, themed “Communicating Renewed Hope,” aimed to sharpen the party’s media strategy and strengthen its public messaging.

Mr. Ajibola emphasised the importance of accurate and responsible media reporting, particularly in combating misinformation and ethnic division.

He expressed concern over the rise in fake news, manipulated images, and narratives to incite division among Nigerians.

“We’ve seen how falsehood has been weaponised in politics. People now take images from war-torn countries like Somalia or Chad and claim they’re from Nigeria just to mislead the public.

“Ethnic fault lines, which weren’t so pronounced in the past, were dangerously deepened during the 2023 elections — and unfortunately, those divisions have persisted. That’s why this gathering is crucial — to push back with facts and unity,” he.said.

Mr. Ajibola also highlighted key economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange rates, which he said are already impacting the economy positively by unlocking funds for infrastructure and boosting sub-national revenues.

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, affirmed that the Tinubu administration’s policy direction is yielding tangible results across various sectors of the economy.

“There are visible, measurable outcomes of the reforms we’ve put in place. Despite the challenges, these initiatives are already creating fiscal stability and driving macroeconomic recovery,” Dr. Alake stated.

He noted that major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which had remained dormant for decades, are now being actively pursued under Tinubu’s leadership.

“The financial institutions across the globe are noticing our progress. States and local governments are now receiving significantly more funding than before.

“Several States have cleared longstanding debts and are now in a stronger position to pursue developmental projects.” the Minister noted.
