A Chieftain of the All-Progressives Congress and former lawmaker at Nigeria’s National Assembly, Prince Bassey Otu says he is optimistic that the Challenges confronting the country even at 61 are building blocks to make the country stronger.

Prince Otu, during an interview with Voice of Nigeria, said the time has come for Nigerians to begin attach importance to themselves irrespective of their background, religion or ethnicity against insinuations that the country will disintegrate.

According to him, the challenges confronting the country especially the insecurity issues is not limited to Nigeria, but a global challenge, thereby calling on all hands to be on deck to find a lasting solution as the practice world over.

While responding on how to move the country forward, Prince Bassey said Nigerians have what it takes to make their country quite great, all they need to do is to change their perception, drop ethnic and religious contention in their character.

There is also the need to put their ark together and form a formidable force of positive thinking that will be of national interest.

”I am calling on Nigerians to unanimously kick against divide and rule stile, practice by some selfish politicians to achieve their personal mandate. will not help the country, it is tearing the citizens apart,” he added.

Mr. Otu emphasized the need for Nigerians to consistently demand their rights instead of fighting themselves, adding that doing so will automatically change the system.

He also called on politicians in the country to know that divide and rule will not always favour them, for at a turn of events, they will be on the crying side.

The APC Chieftain is on the opinion that political leaders at all levels should set their priorities right by putting an equitable society where opportunities are there for everyone to thrive, insisting that doing so will bring out the genuineness, creativity and talents of individuals to move the country forward.

” An average Nigerian is very resilient; we have great brains outside and inward which is why the government look inward with several interventions of development to be put in place.

“For instance, the agricultural intervention put in place by the present government is yielding result as a lot of people in Nigeria are now into farming with evidence to show”. Mr. Otu added.
