A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hycienth Ngwu has urged Nigerian politicians to stop overheating the polity, warning that such actions distract President Bola Tinubu and other elected officials from their governance duties.

Ngwu, a former South-East Publicity Secretary of the APC, made the remarks while addressing newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday.

He said; “President Tinubu understands both Nigeria’s political and economic landscape and should be supported.”

According to Ngwu, “the prompt removal of fuel subsidy has made funds available to all tiers of government, resulting in infrastructural developments, human empowerment, and other transformations across the nation.”

For the first time in decades, our economy is growing at more than 4 per cent in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and the Naira has consistently gained value against the dollar and other foreign currencies,” he said.

Ngwu said that troubling food inflation is now on a continuous decline, signalling a stabilising economy.

On the recent lifting of emergency rule in Rivers State, he said President Tinubu’s intervention restored peace and democratic order, allowing Governor Similayi Fubara to resume office after six months of suspension.

Our political class should applaud the President for being proactive and support him in achieving more for Nigerians. Politicians should put the interest of the masses first, as the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda aims to do,” he said.

He further urged Nigerians, especially political actors, to extend the same support to other elected officials to ensure the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.
