The Northwest zone wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has frowned at the invasion of the residences of the immediate past Governor of Zamfara state, Dr Bello Matawalle by the police and the operatives of the DSS.

The party described the incident as an act of lawlessness, saying, “It is an attempt to witch-hunt the out-gone Governor and some of the government officials who served the state in the last four years.”

While addressing the press at the zonal secretariat of the party office in Kaduna, the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Musa Mada condemned in totality what he described as an act of vandalisation.

According to him, the activities carried out in the Gusau and Maradun residences of the immediate past Governor were in total violation of sections 34, 35, 37, 41 and 42 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

Mada said; “Our enquiries as regards the invasions at the said residences of Matawalle confirmed that the invasion was carried out without any warrant served or presented by the operatives of the police and DSS before carrying out the act.

“On this note, we want to call on the Inspector General of Police and Department of the State Security to as a matter of urgency investigate the matter and bring them to book. This is because, if the matter is not being investigated, hoodlums may wear uniforms and attack perceived enemies in the name of such operations.”

As a party, we would not tolerate that, and we urge the PDP in the state, if at all they have contention with anyone in the state, to follow due process legally as provided in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria,” he said.

Mada, therefore, called on the police and DSS to handle the matter diligently in the interest of the public in order not to be perceived as working for the PDP in the state, just as he urged the party loyalists to remain calm.
