APC Conference of Speakers: Rt. Hon. Danladi-Salihu Emerges as Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly has elected a new leadership at its general meeting, with the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, emerging as its new chairman.
This was made known via a communiqué issued and signed by Speakers of the APC State Houses of Assembly after a competitive, transparent, and democratic election by the state legislators on Saturday in Abuja.
Other elected officers are Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwo (Ebonyi State) as deputy chairman; Rt. Hon. Chiroma A. Buba (Yobe State) as vice chairman (North); Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji (Ondo State) as vice chairman (South); Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem (Cross Rivers State) as treasurer; and Rt. Hon. Yusuf Liman (Kaduna State) as financial secretary.
Matters affecting legislative autonomy and other critical and developmental issues were discussed at the meeting.
The conference recognized the indispensable role of legislative autonomy in upholding democratic principles and ensuring effective governance, and hence reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and upholding the autonomy of the legislative arm at all levels of government to promote good governance that would engender Nigeria’s growth and progress.
It also deliberated on various resolutions aimed at fostering legislative excellence.
These resolutions, according to the communique, encompassed a wide range of issues, including legislative reforms, intergovernmental cooperation, capacity building, and public engagement.
It reiterated its commitment to implementing these resolutions at their respective State Legislatures, thereby contributing to the overall growth and progress of Nigeria.
To enhance transparency, accountability, and the overall quality of governance in APC states, the conference reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration and partnership with the state governors to craft and enact legislation that addresses the needs and aspirations of people and communities.
While congratulating the newly elected officials of the conference, the Speakers of the APC states resolved to give their unalloyed support to the esteemed administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a result of his wealth of experience, exemplary leadership qualities, and his commitment to the progress and development of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu on his emergence as the chairman of the APC Speakers’ Forum.
The Governor extends his hearty congratulations to the Speaker on his election to the exalted office, which he says speaks to the respect that he enjoys among his colleagues nationwide.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor expressed confidence that the speaker, who comes to the job with good experience, will steer the Forum of APC Speakers to greater heights.
The governor prayed to God to guide and bless Speaker Danladi-Salihu with the wisdom to always deliver excellently on every assignment that comes his way, including the latest leadership position.
