The Chairman of the Forum of APC Governors, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state made the declaration after a meeting between the Governors, the APC National Working Committee, and the Presidential Campaign Council.

The meeting is coming after an initial release of a list of members of the Presidential Campaign Council which led to controversies where concerns were raised that not all the nominees of the Governors were included in the list and that the party leadership was not consulted before the list was released to the public.

Governor Bagudu who spoke to journalists said the initial list released was unauthorised.

“We are very proud of our party leader, President Muhamadu Buhari, we are very proud of the conventions that produced both our national chairman and our presidential candidate in the person of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the vice presidential candidate in the person of Kashim Shettima, we are very proud of the actions of the national chairman and the NWC, we are very proud of the actions of the presidential campaign council. We are happy that we are discussing this even though there were leaks that were unfortunate that the campaign council and party have announced that there were mistakes that were not authorised I am happy that the party is solidly behind our candidate and our party and whatever lists that have come out erroneously, we believe it will be sorted out,” Bagudu said.

On the date for the commencement of the APC Presidential Campaign, the party’s National Chairman said that they were not in a hurry.

“How much in a hurry you may be, the fact of the matter is, we as a party, as APC will determine when we will do what as long as it is within the framework of INEC’s guidelines,” Adamu said.

According to the election timetable for 2023 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Campaign officially commenced on September 28, however, APC after shifting its flag-off activities which it had earlier scheduled for 28th September still yet to release date.

Statements by party leaders indicate that this is because the party is still working to constitute its presidential campaign council.
