Anambra State Chapter of South East All Progressives Congress (APC) Young Forum has called for proper accounting of party activities and true reconciliation of different camps in the party ahead of the 2025 Gubernatorial Polls in the state.

The group reasoned that there was a need to render an account of 2021 Governorship Election Campaign Spendings, Disputed funds from the 2022 National Convention/Presidential Primary as well as 2023 Presidential Election Campaign Finances.

Speaking during a Press briefing in Awka, the National Convener of the Group, Pascal Candle, pointed out that seeking accountability in the listed events was crucial to bringing about true reconciliation and healing of the party in the state.

“We carried out a deep soul searching and sampling of opinions of party members from across different strata in Anambra State and we discovered that the unresolved controversies from the 2021 Guber Campaign handling, 2023 APC Presidential Primary Funds and just concluded 2023 Presidential Campaign Fund controversies were basically the major issues on the lips of party members”

While calling for the resolution of the three issues, he made a strong case for the immediate setting up of a Truth and Reconciliation Committee by the State Working Committee of the party with inputs from relevant stakeholders.

He also suggested a revisit of the Report of the Azuka Okwuosa-led fact-finding committee for the 2017 and 2019 General Elections and has the political will to implement the recommendations of the committee.

“We further state that this call for accountability by the South East APC Young Progressives Forum, Anambra State is in good faith and not targeted at any individual or section of the party, but in the overall interest of the party considering that the Anambra 2025 Governorship Election season has started”
