The Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC), has successfully conducted its Local Government Congresses in Ibadan, the state capital on Saturday.

The Chairman of the Local Government Congresses, Hillary Amodu said the peaceful conduct of the congresses is a resolution that the party was ready to defeat the ruling PDP in the 2023 elections in the state,

According to him, the pending results of the party ward congresses, held on July 30, was ready and would soon be made known after it has been ratified.

Amodu spoke during a press conference held at the Oke Ado State Party Secretariat of the party, shortly after the conduct of the local government congresses in the state.

He explained that a meeting had earlier been held with party leaders and relevant stakeholders where it was agreed that there is no option than allowing peace to reign between the faithful and loyalists of the party.

Amodu said: “We want members of the party to see the platform as for whatever their desire is.

”We want to commend the leadership of the party for the peaceful conduct of the congress. We have gone round the state and we saw a good turnout and a peaceful congress. Delegates were on the ground to vote and we again commend the party for a job well done. We also want to commend the security agencies for standing by us.

“All the stakeholders know there was agreed approved venues for the congresses, and if you are taking the congress out of those places, it will be declared null and void.”

”The Congress is a peaceful resolution that the APC is on the ground in the state.

”If you notice, the party had a bitter experience in the last governorship election in 2019 and I am sure they want to right the wrong,” he asserted.

Speaking after a tour of some Council Areas monitored, a legal luminary, Niyi Akintola and the State Spokesperson of the party, Dr Azeez Olatunde, commended the delegates for their massive turnout and show of commitment to the party.

In their separate remarks, both Akintola and Olatunde noted that the delegates at the LG congresses have showed commitment and readiness to reclaim the party from the PDP.

Most of the places monitored had the congress conducted peacefully and rancor-free.

Security presence was also observed to be minimal, while leaders and elders of the party were also seen in their good numbers at their various congress venues to participate in the the process.
