The All Progressives Congress, APC, has held its Local Government Congresses in all the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State, using the adopted Consensus process.

After observing the process at the venue of the Gombe LGA Congress, Governor Muhammaadu Yahaya, commended the process, which he described as peaceful, because of the orderliness.

Before the commencement of the Congresses in the state, the APC had adopted the consensus method, as the Guideline provided by the APC National Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Policy.

Governor Yahaya said; ”I am confident that the new executives across the 11 local government areas would work to ensure the success of the party in the next general election by 2023 and the party is ready for victory.”

Inauguration of the ward Executives
For the APC National Chairman of the Congress in Gombe State, Dr. Danjuma Dabo, the APC LGA Congress commenced with the inauguration of the ward Executives, who had been elected some weeks back and now the affirmation of the local government executives.

Dr. Dabo said the process was conducted simultaneously across the 11 Local Government Areas of the State in accordance with APC guidelines of the party at the national level.

In Talasse, Balanga Local Government Area, 270 APC Ward officials from 10 wards were sworn in and pledged their loyalty to the party, and the national leadership.

Administering the oath of allegiance on the newly elected officials, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Bello Mohammed, urged them ”to respect party supremacy and ensure the success of the party in their various wards during the general election in 2021.”

Dr. Mohammed, said the new party officials were expected to garner support for the party at both state and national levels.

“You can see and bear witness that it was conducted peacefully, all the 10 wards of Balanga Local Government have been sworn in and they have taken the oath of office. They have been encouraged and motivated to work for the party. I have already advised them to respect the Chairmen of their respective wards and the Chairmen are expected to be fair and just to them. They are expected to support the APC government at both State, and national levels. I advise them to canvas support with a view to having a smooth election come 2023,”  Dr. Mohammed said.

He said even though the party had provided the necessary window for appeal, he ruled out the possibility for litigations, stressing that this would be so because all procedures of the party were duly followed.

“For now we are yet to witness any aggrieved person because this election was conducted few weeks back and so far all differences have been sorted.

”So for now we don’t have differences but you know in politics, it is not possible for everyone to be happy about what has been done or with everybody elected. So, if there is any, I’m calling on any aggrieved or disgruntled member who is not happy to kindly take it likely, APC is a big party, and will find means to accommodate them,” Dr Mohammed added.

Similarly, a National Observer for the APC Ward Election Committee, Safiya Bala, said she was satisfied with process, but encouraged the officials to uphold party supremacy at all times.

Mrs. Bala said; “The process is very successful and the right thing has been done and I’m happy it went on well. To those elected, they must stick to their post and do the right thing for the party. We expect them to uphold the party supremacy.”

Due process
She equally stressed that those not satisfied with the process should follow due process to get their issues addressed.

Meanwhile in Shongom Local Government Area, 270 APC officials were sworn-in by the Senior Chief Magistrate, Justice Umar Farouk Muhammed.

The APC State Team Leader, Mr. Sa’adu Hassan, called on all the newly inaugurated 10 ward Executives to exhibit good leadership traits and loyalty to the party, to attract more members to the party.

The inauguration in Shongom was witnessed by a representative of the Party from the National Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Lawal Kayode, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Security agents, Party representatives from the state, the Chairman of Shongom Local Government, Mr. Yuhana Nahare, among others.
