APC National Secretary Says President Tinubu Is Development Oriented
By Segun Adegoke, Osogbo
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru says President Bola Tinubu is focused on his goal of developing the assets and people of Nigeria.
Speaking at a civic reception organised for him by Party members, at the Freedom Park in Osogbo, Osun State capital, Basiru stated that the removal of fuel subsidy by the Nigerian government was for development.
The APC scribe who said he felt the pains of Nigerians following the stoppage of petrol subsidy, said beyond the present hardship lies prosperity and enjoyment for all Nigerians.
“I am aware of the concerns that have been raised about the recent removal of fuel subsidy. I want to assure you that the government of President Bola Tinubu is taking steps to mitigate the impact of this decision on the most vulnerable Nigerians.
“The Nigerian Government has released thousands of bags of rice and N5b to each state across the country to help cushion the effect of the price increase. Hold your governors accountable,” he said.
Basiru said the Nigerian Government realised the enormity of the financial burden petrol subsidy placed on the nation, hence the decision of the Tinubu led administration to remove it.
He urged Nigerians not to be swayed by negative arguments condemning the steps being taken by the present administration to fix the economy.
“The Government is working to improve the efficiency of the oil and gas sector. This will help to reduce the cost of fuel in the long run.
“The government is also working to diversify the economy so that we are not so reliant on oil. This will help to make us more resilient to shocks in the global oil market.
“Don’t be deceived, this party is the main party that is development oriented. We must not allow our economy to be ruined”, he explained.
The National Secretary also called on all Party members as well as Nigerians to remain united and work to reposition the country for the benefit of the present generation and the coming ones.
