The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yilwatda Nentawe has visited his home State of Plateau to receive prayers and blessings from traditional and religious leaders.
The visit, though private in nature, drew a large turnout of party members and well-wishers who came to show their support.
Speaking at the palace of the Leader of Traditional rulers in Plateau, Professor Nentawe explained the purpose of his visit.
“I’ve come to seek your prayers and guidance. Your spiritual support has been a pillar for me thus far, and I need it now more than ever as I step into this national assignment,” he said.
Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodima, delivered a goodwill message on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He expressed the unified backing of the APC governors for Professor Nentawe.
“President Tinubu asked us to accompany our new National Chairman to seek the blessings of his roots. Plateau has given the APC a capable leader, and this appointment is a symbol of renewed hope for both the state and the nation,” Uzodima stated.
He further remarked that the emergence of Professor Nentawe as National Chairman demonstrates the President’s dedication to inclusive leadership that transcends ethnic and religious lines.
In response, the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, received the APC delegation with warmth and offered prayers for Professor Nentawe’s success.
He called on political leaders to focus on unity, peace, and moral uprightness in governance.
“We appreciate the support extended to Professor Nentawe. We offer him our prayers and encouragement as he takes on this important task,” the traditional ruler said.
Addressing broader national concerns, His Royal Majesty highlighted the ongoing security and economic challenges across the country, urging leaders to provide adequate resources for security agencies and ensure the protection of lives.
“No community should continue to suffer avoidable tragedies due to insecurity. We urge the federal government to intensify its efforts,” he added.
He encouraged political figures to seek divine wisdom in their leadership roles, reminding them that the future of the country rests on both spiritual commitment and concrete action.
The Gbong Gwom Jos reaffirmed the support of the traditional council for Professor Nentawe, describing him as a “true son of the soil” and praying for divine direction as he leads the APC and contributes to Nigeria’s progress.
Among those in the delegation were Governors Ahmed Ododo (Kogi), Dr. Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), and former Plateau Governors Senator Simon Lalong and Senator Joshua Dariye, along with several notable APC leaders.
During his stay, Professor Nentawe also held meetings with prominent Christian and Muslim clerics in the state, seeking their prayers and spiritual guidance.
