APC Presidential Primaries: Tinubu, Amechi woo delegates in Borno State

The two front runners of the All Progressives Congress party, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt Honorable Rotimi Ameachi, the immediate past Minister of Transport, were in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to woo delegates at the forthcoming presidential primaries.

The former minister arrived in Maiduguri and was received by the Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the Borno State Government House. Some notable personalities among his entourage were his campaign coordinator, Sen Ali Ndume, former chief of Army Staff, retired Lt. General Tukur Buratai, the pioneer and former Chairman of the EFCC, Hon. Nuhu Ribadu among others.

Hon. Amaechi, while addressing the delegates, said, “I’m here to talk to your conscience. Any man or woman without conscience does not know God. 

“Conscience makes you remember someone who has done well for the people. This is the only way to pay back.” 

The former Chief of Army Staff, Lt- General Tukur rtd, who also spoke during the gathering, urged delegates to vote for Amaechi as the presidential candidate of the APC.

Similarly, the APC National Leader and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu who was also in Maiduguri to solicit and converge support from delegates that will vote, assured the people of Borno that if he is elected as the next President of Nigeria, he will exploit all the state’s natural resources as well as explore the discovered oil in the north among others.

The APC national leader told the people of Borno State that they would tackle the remnants of Boko Haram.

Saying his government will prioritise security and education as the bedrock of development under him if elected as the president in 2023.

He also pledged to boost agriculture, provision of electricity rehabilitation of roads across the country.

Governor Zulum, in his remarks, welcomed the presidential candidate and prayed for his success.

Zulum said, “Nigeria deserves a patriotic and honest leader that is transparent and responsible.

“Someone who will eradicate corruption in the country which has beclouded the nation’s economy in almost all sectors of the country.”
